Chamber Presents 
Allegany Rockin' Ribfest

 

The Seneca Salamanca Chamber of Commerce is presenting the 1st Annual Allegany Rockin' Ribfest at Veterans Memorial Park in Salamanca, NY on Thursday, August 16 - Saturday, August 18, 2012. 
 
Professional, national, champion barbecue teams will compete for trophies while offering their specially prepared foods to the public. The champion cooking teams include:
  • Hog Wild Barbeque - Mansfield, OH
  • Two Guys BBQ - Canton, OH
  • Wells Hog Wild - Warren, PA
  • My Happy Place BBQ - Delaware, OH 
  • SGT. Oink's BBQ Co - Tiffin, OH 
A variety of scrumptious desserts and specialty comfort foods will also be available. The festival is packed with fun for the whole family! Ribfest will feature a kid friendly "Kid Zone" with bounce houses and face painting; visit the art & craft vendors; and don't miss the daily live music featuring The Bob Hartle Band, West of the Mark, a Johnny Cash Tribute Show and more! There is no admission charge.

The Seneca Salamanca Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Annual Recognition Dinner - SalamancAPPLAUDS. Deadline for all award nominations will be 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2012. The awards will be given out in a presentation ceremony at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Recognition Dinner to be held on Wednesday, June 6 at Elkdale Country Club at 6:00 pm. All award recipients will be honored at the awards ceremony prior to announcing the winners. The award categories and criteria are detailed below.

 

  

Categories for Nominations are: 

  • Handshake Award - Presented to a small business, which is a member of the Chamber, for demonstrating leadership and all-around excellence in business. 
  • Hand in Hand Award - Presented to a person and/or company, who is a member of the Chamber, who's been successful in areas such as economic development, business growth and/or launching, managing and assuming the risks of a new economic venture. 
  • Helping Hand Award - Presented to an outstanding area volunteer for their leadership efforts in serving and improving the Salamanca Area. .
  • Lifetime Achievement Award - Presented to an individual for their life's endeavors. This Individual has demonstrated a significant and lasting contribution to the betterment of the Salamanca.

April Showers bring May Flowers 

 

flower barrelThe streets of Salamanca prepare for full bloom as the Flower Barrel displays sprout up on Main Street and Broad Street. Western New York Rural Economic Development Workshop

The Office of United States Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand (NY),  the Economic Development Administration, USDA Rural Development and Appalachian Regional Commission, in partnership with Jamestown Community College, are pleased to invite you to attend a Western New York Rural Economic Development Workshop.
 
As America continues to rebuild its economy, it is essential that New York State's rural communities have every tool they need to succeed in growing their local economies. This workshop will include a briefing by representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture, the Economic Development Administration, and Appalachian Regional Commission, and will offer participants the opportunity to gain awareness of funding opportunities and guidelines. A detailed agenda is forthcoming.
